Doors Open Day at St Nicholas

On Sunday 7th September, 2008, St. Nicholas will once again join the many organisations that contribute to Ayrshire’s “Doors Open Days”. Every year since 1990, Kyle and Carrick Civic Society has organised an Ayrshire “Doors Open Day”, as part of the annual European Heritage event that gives free access to historic and other interesting buildings. 2008 is particularly significant for St. Nicholas in this centennial year.

The big change to the building this year will be the new vestibule. There will be stewards to welcome people, and leaflets on the church and its stained glass windows. Light refreshments will be available in the Old Hall, in which there will also be displays based on the activities of our various organisations

An important reason for taking part in Doors Open Day 2008 is to offer a welcome to the community at large. If you have any ideas that would enhance the event don’t hesitate to contact Margaret McIntosh or Quentin Wilson (Tel. 477796).

Intimations:

If you wish to have an intimation added to the Order of Service, please contact the office, or e-mail to office@stnicholasprestwick.org.uk All intimations should be submitted by the Friday prior to the Sunday you wish the intimation to be announced.

If you wish to add an article or notice to the Church newsletter, please send an e-mail to newsletter@stnicholasprestwick.org.uk All articles must be submitted by the 20th of the month.

General Information:

Hospital Transport:

Members of the Congregation requiring help in visiting local hospitals can contact Mr. A. Johnston (477172), or Miss M. McIntosh (470161) who will make the necessary arrangements.

Gift Aid Scheme:

Members of the Congregation who give offerings or donations to the church, and pay income tax, can join the Gift Aid Scheme by signing a ‘Gift Aid Declaration’ and the tax can then be reclaimed on the amount given.

Any donations that have been made since 6th April 2001, and all donations made from the date of signing are eligible for reclaim of tax.
Methods of payment are by cheque, standing order, or cash given to Mr. Bill Jackson, Kirk Treasurer or Mr. Stanley Smart, Gift Aid Scheme Administrator.

Members of the congregation who give through the weekly offering envelope, and who pay tax, also qualify to join the scheme. All donations must be traceable, so money given in the open plate would not be eligible.
