Former Ministers:
The first minister of the new charge was the Rev. James Montgomerie
Crawfor
d
whose formal admission took place on 3rd December, 1908. Mr. Crawford
was a native of Ayr where he was born in November, 1864. His sudden
death on 27th December, 1926 was a sad loss to St. Nicholas Church and
congregation.
Mr. C
rawfords’
successor was the Rev. G. McLeod Dunn, translated from Kelvinhaugh
Church, Glasgow. Mr. Dunn served St. Nicholas Church faithfully and
energetically from 6th June, 1927 until his retiral in October, 1959. On
Mr. Dunn’s retirement, the Rev. Donald M. Caskie M.A. of Monkton and
Prestwick Church of St. Cuthbert was appointed interim moderator during
the vacancy.
The Rev. W. Humphrey Hamilton, M.A. Minister of the Charge
Shawlands
Cross Parish Church, Glasgow was duly appointed as successor to Mr. Dunn
and on 19th January, 1961, the new minister attended his first
congregational Board meeting as Moderator.
